News & Updates

2010 should be a great year for Team 311. Same pretty pink jeep, a few new parts and a renewed, energized commitment to the cause. If you make it out to a WERock event or see us out on the trail, stop and say hi. Feel free to check the rig out and wish us luck, as we start out second year of CRAWL TO CURE CANCER.

Recently, I was contacted by a lady named Ashley from CT. Ashley has a super rare cancer called Carney-Stratakis dyad. We have been chatting back and forth about her treatments and how she's been feeling. I get emails like this from time to time and each one I hold close to my heart. It is people like Ashley (and my mom) that made Team 311 decide to do what we are doing. Talking with Ashley brightens everyone's spirit and helps you realize that the world is much larger than the issues with the rig, work or personal life. We're proud to have Ashley and everyone else as fans and supporters and look forward to meeting and hearing your story. If anyone has a story they want to share with me, please feel free to send me an email: kelly@crawltocurecancer.com Together, we can fight the good fight!

Happy New Year everyone. I am very pleased to announce how much money we raised this year for Team 311's Crawl to Cure Cancer program. Throughout 2009, we turned in $4,738 to the American Cancer Society. 4Wheel Drive Hardware is matching that AND giving us 100% of the proceeds from our t-shirt sales, which is another $4,895! So total donation from our team for 2009...$14,371! Thank you everyone so much for your help and support in this great cause. We couldn't make this happen without our fellow Jeepers helping spread the word!

So I have been slacking but I want to give you all an update. I have 2 groups of people to send a huge thank you to. First, KBG 4Wheelers. Thank you so much for your very generous donation. It is helping us get closer to our goal of $10,000. I also want to send a huge thank you to Kim and Mike Devore and the entire 4Wheel Parts crew from Indy. At their Jamboree this past weekend, they sold our shirts for us and raised over $2k for our cause. I need to get an overall total so far for everything, donations, plus shirt sales, but so far we have hit over $5k. With the match, that puts us over the $10k mark! Thank you so much to everyone for their generosity and making this happen. I know my mom is smiling down on us!

We were at Jeepfest in New Castle, PA this weekend. We had a great turn out. We took 65 shirts to sell and came back with 3! We brought in $100 in donations and $1200 in t-shirt sales. I'm turning in $1120 that we raised so far this summer! We're leaving Friday this week for the All Stock Nationals in Hannibal, MO August 29-30. I hope to see you there cheering us on.

Back from our Dayton, TN WeRock competition. What an event this was. It was the first time we competed under the lights. And the fans in Dayton are off the chart! We had people coming up to us at the event and handing up money for our cause. We raised $350 at this competition. We have 3 weeks to go over the Jeep before the All Stock Nationals in Hannibal, MO August 29-30. I hope to see you there cheering us on.

We just got back from the 4Wheel Drive Hardware Truck and Jeep Fest in Canfield, OH. We had a great show and an awesome turn out. We sold over $3k in t-shirts for the weekend and raised just shy of $200 from our donation jar. Thank you to everyone for your donations and purchasing our shirts and stickers - we could not do this without everyone's support.

We just got back from the PA Jeeps All Breeds Jeep Show in York, PA. What a great show! Thank you to everyone for your donations and purchasing our shirts and stickers. I am very happy to report we raised just over $300 in donations and sold $2300 in t-shirts! Thanks again - we could not do this without everyone's support.

I also want to update everyone on the donations we have brought in so far. We have raised just over $2,000 and with the 4Wheel Drive Hardware company match, that puts us just over $4000! Thanks to everyone who has donated so far and those who plan to. This is such a great cause and I'm so glad we're all a part of it!

Well, since our last update we had our second competition in Hannibal, MO. I would love to be able to report better news than the first event, but I can't. We broke a lot of parts: front driveshaft, rear brake line, rear brake caliper bracket and a power steering box. To top off our horrible weekend, we flopped the rig on it's side on the last course! There goes the nice pretty paint job :( The Jeep is currently in the garage tore apart getting repaired as we speak. Our next competition is in 2 weeks at Rausch Creek Off Road Park in Joliet, PA. Hope to see you there!

Our new shirts are here! All proceeds from the shirts will be given to the Crawl to Cure Cancer cause. Check them out on 4wd.com!

Well we just got back from our first competition. I wish I had better news to report but it was not our weekend. We finished our first course on Saturday and noticed we were leaking tranny fluid pretty bad. So we took the access panels out and saw about a 1/2" gap between the tranny and the adapter. So we thought it just needed tightened up...only to take it all apart to find it was stripped. So we worked on it from 10:30 until 5 putting it together, taking it apart and getting a tap, tapping the holes deeper and using longer bolts. So we ran the one course and that was it on Saturday.
Sunday we started out great, -1 on the first course. The second course, only one person finished it, because he started first and everyone else dug holes, so we didn't come close to finishing it. The third course, we were just about to make the turn to the finish - broke a front driveshaft... I tried moving the jeep as much as possible to clear the gates, but we were bound so bad, the rig wasn't moving at all. We replaced the driveshaft and finished the last course with a 2.

The Jeep is DONE! It's been done - I'm just a slacker when it comes to writing updates ;) We took it out last night to test it on the rocks behind 4WD. Everything seems to be in working order. It looks so naked without my sponsor stickers (those are coming next week). Our first event is in less than 3 weeks. We have a lot more seat time to get in before then.

Not much to report. We are almost done with the jeep. A lot of wiring and loose ends to tie up. Our first competition is fast approaching, we spend as much time as possible in the garage. The above picture is the current state the jeep is in. Look for more updates as the weeks go by.

Our first step in this journey was to replace the body of the Jeep with a newer one from Davey's Jeeps. Once we stripped the body tub of all unnecessary parts, and cut out what we didn't need, Line-X was nice enough to donate their new LINE-X XTRA to our project. By spraying both the interior and underside of the body, Team 311 will keep the "Crawl to Cure Cancer" Jeep protected for a long time. We can't begin to tell you how happy we are with how the Line-X spray on bed liner came out! Don't take our word for it, come and see it for yourself at one of the events we will be heading out to this year.
